Kapa Haka

 A couple of days ago we had something called kapa haka. Kapa haka is a range of different dances, our kapa haka Bracket is very cool... Click Here to see it. 

In the morning when I came to school I arrived and was a bit surprised when I saw everyone with their mokos on.  

So I put my bag and ran to get a good spot in the line. When I felt the cold wet black paint sitely touch my face I realized I had to get my second have of my moko on. Ring! The bell rang I sat down on the mat waiting for our teacher.  At last our teachers came. They told the boys that we had to take our t- shirts off. We lined up and walked into the hall.

Next we got into our Kapa Haka lines and started practicing a bit. Kia mo. Boom! The cameras were rolling. The first song was a song called Utaina, then ka waiata, E rona, ka panana and then the Haka! I was excited the boys marched forward and started doing the haka.

After that was Toia mai are last song when we finished singing Toia mai Caanen took his head phones off and we heard a huge clap from the teachers

So that was our amazing Kapa Haka Bracket. 

The Ilminster green team

On we went into ilminster to watch a play witch was made by the ilminster green team. Here it is... Nanny kora came up to tell a story to her grandchildren about littering. It was about four kids who were littering but then they heard a boom! A loud sound hit the earth aliens flooded the area one by one and started to littler their used items witch could be used again. 

After the aliens left the four kids came back again a said "Who litterd our planet". But then they saw a robot that the aliens threw away that was only a month in use. The kids asked the robot to ring it's leader to come down and pick up the rubbish they had dropped but instead of taking the rubbish back they dumped even more rubbish. The aliens left planet earth but then they got another call from the robot. 

The aliens came back but this time Nanny kora came out and the aliens thought Nanny kora was their leader so she played along with it and commanded them to pick up all the rubbish that they dropped so they did. After that Nanny kora told the kids to pick up the rubbish that they dropped. When they were finished they went back home to eat some food and then they bowed and then the play was over.

L3 Number

 L3 Number

In our workshop L3 number we are learning about paths. like triangle paths, square paths and more. You had to find a pattern. Like times three plus 1 and other ones too. In our Workshop it was fun because I learnt how to work out if I had Multiple sand pits. So that is what we did in or cool Workshop.

Last week we had something called the Gillies Cup. It  was so fun. My team and I played at Mangapapa School in soccer. The goals were so small , but it's probably because I am used to big goals. When I looked at the other team the goalie stood out. He was so tall! We had are team talk under the tree because it was raining. After are talk the game started. I was subbed first and was warming up on the side lines. Beep! The whistle blew we finally started Jaxon ran up with the ball at his feet like a cheetah dribbling with the ball. Boom! It hit the back of the net. It was currently 1-0. 

The other team started off with the ball. They passed backwards to the center mid. The center mid dribbled up and past our center mid. Mangapapa dribbled past me and scored. After that we scored too then it was the second half. We ran to our coaches and sorted out our positions. Finally the second half started. I was in center back witch in the middle of the defenders. 

My team passed back to me and I booted it all the way up past half way. Jaxon got the ball and took a shot and missed but then Neko finished the job. My team took the ball off the other team and crossed it. Boom! We scored again. Me and my team new we were going to beat them by now. It was five minest till the end and then we scored again. The final whistle blew I collapsed to the ground. I landed in a puddle.  

Cross country

Today we had something called cross country. Cross country is a running race. In a cross country race you have to run uphill a lot. I will tell you about my race. Here it is...

Bang!!! I looked around is confusion all of the boys in my year started running so I followed then. At the start of the race I realised that was the start for the cross country. I sped up I was coming 5th. I went even faster up the sandy hill. I was finally coming 3rd. My friend Olly was in front of me and in front of him was Moss. Finally I passed Olly after 2 minutes. I brushed the sweat off of my forehead then got to my second lap. I tried to pass Moss but when I sped up he sped up too. 

We were half way through the second lap. I thought I was going to pass out. I felt as tired as a koala. I started to get slower and slower, but I new the finish line was just ahead. When the finish line was ahead I looked back. I saw Roy right behind me. I sprinted as hard as I could and I dove across the finish line coming 2nd place.

Mangaone Farm

 Mangaone Farm

This week I did a quick write about Mangaone Farm. It's a farm that we went to last week and had a really good time. Here it is.

Last week we went to a farm called Mangaone.

It was very warm there it felt like a heatwave on the beach. When we got there we went to plant trees on the wetlands. It was a hard job because you had to pull out all of the weeds around the tree like a tyre shape.

My best friend Jaxon and I planted twenty four trees in three hours. When we were done we ran as fast as we could to get our lunches and water. After that we had to go back again for another hour.

When I was putting a plant into the soil a tiny bug crawled up my arm. It felt like a worm going up my spine. So that is what we did at Mangaone farm.

Our Olympic booklet

 This week and last week we have been doing our Olympic Booklet. Our Olympic Booklet has 16 pages in it . In the Olympic Booklet you have to color some pages in. It has a crossword about Japan and also other stuff too! We also had to label where places are on google maps and had to label the name of the 2021 mascots Miraitowa and Someity, from the summer and winter Olympics 2021.  Here is a photo of my Olympic Booklet.

I learnt that they have Paralympics this week. The paralympics has people who have different abilities like blind, missing leg or arm and they are still so fast too!

Can you find the Four Square worker?  So that is what we did the first three weeks o term for Inquiry.

This week we finished me and Jaxons diorama. It took about 5 weeks to finish and did the funniest penguin. Here is a photo. 

Me and Jaxon think we did the best diorama. Jaxon wanted the Little blue penguin to move so we put two sticks through them and cut a large hole at the top so we could hold them by the sticks to make them move. Then we had or diorama.

Our Art

This week on Monday my class did some art. We did some art based on Picasso. Picasso is a famous artist that loves using shapes to do his art. He died when he was 91 years old and was still very good at art. first we had to pick a face shape, then we put a line down the middle of the face, after that we picked two eyes, then we had to pick a mouth, after that we had to pick a nose, next we picked ears. Then we added hair, a hat, also we added earrings and a neck. 

 

So we did some art that was like picasso's art. Here is mine.

Enviro Action day

Enviro Action day

On Wednesday all of the classes in Wainui Beach School did something to help the environment or the School because it is helping us learn about sustainability.   

My classes thing was to clean 600 meters of the beach and back. My group of three found 257 pieces of rubbish on the beach.  After counting we sorted them into piles. Like bottle caps and  plastic bags etc. 

After that we had lunch and 20 minutes after lunch I went to chop up kelp for 40 minutes. So that is what we did for Enviro Action Day term 2 week 5 2021.  

My quick write this week

 This week I did a persuasive quick write in my book. I did mine about why we should have a three day holiday.

 I thought we should have a three day holiday because it would be more fun because you would hang out with your friend more and have sleepovers. You would also be more relaxed on the three day holiday. You could go to so many places in three days. That's why I think we should have a three day holiday.

Part of this term me and my class have been learning about little blue penguin. I have learnt so much about them. I have learnt that little blue penguins population is  approximately 350-600,000.  Also, did you know little blue penguin are the smallest kind of penguin? Here is a picture of one.🐧

Little blue penguin have an average lifespan up to 6-7 years, but they can live up to 25 years.

Four times tables

L3 times tables 

This week, my group and I were working on our four times tables. My group was called level three number. We started learning four times eight and other ones, like four times nine. After we worked on our times tables we did division. I was very comfortable doing it because I had already done division last year. There were four questions. I finished mine in two minutes, and my friend finished ten seconds after. My times tables will help me when I'm older and in everyday life. So that is what we learnt this week in our level 3 number group.

This week we learnt a bit more about our times tables. We worked on our 4, 6, 9 times tables for half an hour and played a times table game too. So basically there should be 3 people and over. You also have to pick what times tables you are going to do. There is a person who has a whole deck of cards in their hand and puts a card down. You have to figure out the answer. So let's say the number is two and the number you picked is nine so it would be two times nine. So that is what we learnt this week.  

Week 7!!!!

 On week 7 the year Six's went to Camp Kaitawa and there were only year fives in the class. We wrote a  slide about what we did that week. That week we played so many games and we had so much fun.

The earthquake

Rubble rumble! The ground shook.  My eyes flew open and I stumbled to my feet. I ran to my Mum and Dad's room but they were already awake. I asked them what just happened. They said 'it was a earthquake' I was shocked when I heard that, and ran to wake my brothers up. After that I ran to get my dog from his crate. While I was putting my dog in the car, my mum called Grandmother and my Aunt. 

When everyone got in their cars, we drove out of Wainui. There were three separate cars. My mum decided we should all go to my cousin's house and sleep there.  I found it hard to sleep at two in the morning, so I stayed up the whole night.

The next morning I went downstairs to eat breakfast. After breakfast we drove to school. 20 mins later I got pulled out of school. My Dad told me we were going back to my cousin's house. When my Dad and I got there I sprinted up to the gaming room to play rocket league. At 1:00 that afternoon all the warnings were canceled and I drove back home with my family.  

After all that I was so relieved that my family and I got back home safely. 

 

Back to school

 It was early Wednesday morning and I woke up with one big realisation - school had begun. I was so excited to come back to school and see all of my friends but not work. When I got to school I put my bag on the hook and went to play soccer with my best friend Jaxon. I was so excited to see him. Ding ding ding! The bell rang. I ran to class and sat on the mat. 

Koka Rozie told us to bring are togs, shoes and a water bottle the next day so I did. The next day we swam first thing in the morning and then did our blogs. After morning tea we got told that we were walking up Maungaroa. It was so so tiring walking up the steep Maungaroa and the worst part was I had only a half filled pump bottle. I was so thirsty the whole way back.

About a week later, we went to the Marae with Nui syndicate and while we were singing, my tooth fell off! Koka Ngaire put it in a plastic bag. That is how my first four weeks of school started.
